Bayesian tests for circular uniformity

چکیده

Circular data are measured in angles or directions, which occur a wide variety of scientific fields. An often investigated hypothesis is that circular uniformity, isotropy. Frequentist methods for assessing the uniformity null exist, but do not allow user faced with an insignificant result to distinguish lack power from support hypothesis. Bayesian tests, solve this issue and several others, developed here. They easy compute perform well, shown simulation. Two alternative hypotheses considered. One based on von Mises distribution performs well against unimodal alternatives. Another kernel density, acts as omnibus test all other scenarios. Assessing performance tests using different priors, it they powerful more elaborate conclusions than classical uniformity.

Random Number Generators: Metrics and Tests for Uniformity and Randomness

Random number generators are a small part of any computer simulation project. Yet they are the heart and the engine that drives the project. Often times software houses fail to understand the complexity involved in building a random number generator that will satisfy the project requirements and will be able to produce realistic results. Building a random number generator with a desirable perio...

Sparse Serial Tests of Uniformity for Random Number

Diierent versions of the serial test for testing the uniformity and independence of vectors of successive values produced by a (pseudo)random number generator are studied. These tests partition the t-dimensional unit hypercube into k cubic cells of equal volume, generate n points (vectors) in this hypercube, count how many points fall in each cell, and compute a test statistic deened as the sum...

Bayesian two-sample tests

In this paper, we present two classes of Bayesian approaches to the twosample problem. Our first class of methods extends the Bayesian t-test to include all parametric models in the exponential family and their conjugate priors. Our second class of methods uses Dirichlet process mixtures (DPM) of such conjugate-exponential distributions as flexible nonparametric priors over the unknown distribu...

Paraconsistent Sensitivity Analysis for Bayesian Significance Tests

In this paper, the notion of degree of inconsistency is introduced as a tool to evaluate the sensitivity of the Full Bayesian Significance Test (FBST) value of evidence with respect to changes in the prior or reference density. For that, both the definition of the FBST, a possibilistic approach to hypothesis testing based on Bayesian probability procedures, and the use of bilattice structures, ...
